HIPAA Training for Applicants
HIPAA training within the past year is required for all residency and fellowship applicants visiting patient care areas of UF Health. Applicants that tour the hospital may sign an Security and Confidentiality Agreement and be escorted on the tour by faculty or staff. However, if the applicants want to observe patient care or participate in rounds with our physicians, they must sign the same Security and Confidentiality Agreement AND attest to having completed HIPAA training in the last 12 months. The additional attestation is needed because HIPAA and current policy requires that we provide or document training. Links to the Security and Confidentiality Agreement and the Attestation form may be found here.
International graduates or individuals who have not completed HIPAA training within the past year may obtain required training from our privacy web site. There is special limited training available for visitors and residency / fellowship applicants to UF Health. This training will be necessary for applicants who will participate in rounds or other activities where protected information is discussed and who have NOT completed HIPAA training within the past year. In this circumstance, please have your applicants complete this training PRIOR to arrival for their interview. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.
