The Housestaff Council was established in July 2019 to represent the collective voice of residents and fellows on matters related to education, training, clinical resources, and the overall trainee experience. Working in close partnership with the UF Office of Graduate Medical Education, the UF College of Medicine, and UF Health, the Council plays a key role in shaping a supportive and inclusive learning environment for all housestaff.
Beyond advocacy, the Council serves as a forum for peer connection and idea exchange, helping to foster a sense of community among trainees. It also helps guide initiatives that support housestaff well-being, including social events, lounge enhancements, and programs like Gator Bites. Each residency and fellowship program may appoint a representative to the Council. Nominations occur in early July, followed by internal elections to select the Executive Council.
The Executive Council for the 2024-2025 academic year is:
- Co-Chair: Rachel Moor PGY 6 (Neurosurgery)
